10 Travel Essentials you won’t want to forget to pack!

I absolutely love to travel!

If you’re like me and love to travel too, you probably have a go to list of travel essentials.

Over the years I’ve learned that there are a few items I just have to take on a trip with me.

I’ve been on lots of flights and these ten items are must haves when I fly.

While my packing list is not limited to these ten items, these are the ten travel essentials that I just can’t live without.

1. Scarf: It doubles as a fashion accessory and a blanket. Choose something you can easily mix and match to your wardrobe. Use it to dress up an evening outfit or as a wrap to stay comfy as you travel.

I can’t tell you how many times having a scarf has saved me! Planes get cold and carrying a blanket is bulky, but a nice wide scarf can add just the right layer of warmth when traveling.

2. Headphones + your iPod/iPhone or mp3 player: A must for hours of travel. Listen to your favorite jams, learn a new language, listen to a book or watch a movie.

Headphones also help drown out all the noise on a plane. Plus if you’re an introvert like me having headphones in means being left alone.

3. Travel Journal: It’s amazing how much adventure you can pack into a trip and how quickly you can forget things. Bring a little journal to document favorite moments along the way + key details you won’t want to forget later.

I love taking the time each day to write down a few of my favorite memories. Trips go by so quickly so writing these moments down is important for me.

4. Note Cards: I absolutely love leaving notes behind. Leave them for your host to let them know how much you loved your stay or catch up on correspondence as you travel.

Note cards a a really nice touch to share your gratitude with others as you travel. I’ve really regretted the times I’ve forgotten to bring a few with me.

5. Passport or ID: This seems like a no brainier, but it actually happens. Double check you have all your travel documents before you head out the door.

There’s nothing like getting the airport and realizing you don’t have your ID! What a nightmare.

6. Sunnies: Always. Always. Always. I never leave home without my sunglasses. An absolute must. On top of keeping the sun out of your eyes, use them on the plane as a make shift eye mask.

Score some absolutely adorable and affordable options at Forever 21. For under $10 a pair you won’t have to worry if you lose ’em or break them while traveling.

7. Towel + travel shampoo & conditioner: A towel may sound like a funny essential, but after 15+ hours of internal travel (which in my case has included multiple flights and layovers) I will wash my hair in an airport bathroom sink.

It literally makes me feel like a brand new person to have clean hair mid-travel home. If you’re worried about space, you can pick up a lightweight, quick drying towel at REI.

8. Water Bottle + Vitamins: My favorite is the Camelbak Groove. It has a built in filter and you can take it on the plane with you. I simply fill it up once I’m past security.

It’s extra important to hydrate when traveling to stay healthy and refreshed. Traveling can be tiring and drinking water is important. I also bring vitamins to support my immune system as travel often taxes our system.

9. Snacks: Pack some yummy healthy snacks like KIND bars (currently obsessed with these delicious granola bars), cocoa almonds, and trail mix.

You’ll save some major bucks, avoid greasy heavy airport options and be in control of your appetite.

10. Wrinkle Release Spray: A total time saver! Say goodbye to being a frumpy mess by simply spritzing and hanging your clothes when you arrive.

Then enjoy wrinkle free outfits on your trip.
