Known for it’s glitz and glamour, beautiful coastline and trendy shopping, and oh yes… stars, California is one of the most beautiful places to live and visit. There’s no shortage of things to do in L.A. As a California native I thought it would be fun to round up of some of my favorite places to visit! My three part guide is how I would choose to spend three fabulous days in the Sunshine State’s most popular city. Ready to explore Los Angeles in three days like a local? Here we go!

District La Brea

District La Brea, in the City of Los Angeles, is home to several of my favorite L.A. spots! It’s hip cafes and restaurants, coffee shops, furniture and art stores, boutiques and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art make it a trendy neighborhood you’ll love visiting.

Breakfast or Brunch: Start your day like a local and grab breakfast (or brunch) at The Sycamore Kitchen. Nestled in the design corridor of District La Brea this hip urban bakery-eatery is the perfect breakfast or brunch hotspot! Sit inside or outside and enjoy the modern meets retro vibe. I personally recommend the Fried Egg Tartine and Rosemary Caramel Iced Coffee or a Tuscan Latte, but you can’t go wrong ordering off of their delicious menu!

Meet Me at Third and Fairfax: L.A. Farmer’s Market

The LA Farmers Market

Meet Me at Third and Fairfax: After breakfast head on over to the L.A. Farmer’s Market and The Grove. You’ll find much more that fruits and veggies there! You might even spot a celebrity. Start at the Farmer’s Market and leisurely stroll through the stalls and stores. Beyond picking up fresh produce and specialty foods you can also enjoy the many restaurants and sweet treats from the bakeries or pie and ice cream shops. Then head over to The Grove and go to town shopping! Catch the trolley for a free ride down First Street from one end of The Grove to the other. Be sure to check out the Farmer’s Market calendar of events for concerts, tribute nights, and contests and The Grove’s website for social hours, special sales and launches.

Ready for lunch? Head back into the Farmer’s Market! I recommend grabbing an amazing Brazilian meal at Pampas Grill! Self serve and pay by the pound. The meat is carved fresh off the spit and you’ll be treated to a delicious array of side choices. You won’t be disappointed.

The Urban Light Display at LACMA

End the night with a visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and see the famous Urban Light display. The lights come on at dusk every day. An installation of 202 restored cast iron antique street lamps, the Urban Light Sculpture at LACMA, is one of L.A.’s most famously photographed locations.

Directly across the street is the Petersen Auto Museum, which is also worth a visit to! The unique architecture of the building makes it a sight to see on its own. And if you’re into automobiles it’s a super cool museum.

  1. I’ve never been anywhere outside of the East Coast, but if I went out West the main place I’d want to go is California and I think LA would definitely be one of the places I’d love to go. That farmers market seems like a really cool gem!

    1. I love the East Coast! There’s so much history and beautiful architecture there. Yes, the farmer’s market is pretty great, but then again I love going to farmer’s markets! Thankfully we have one in town weekly too!

    1. The best part about LA is that it’s so big you can play tourist even if you are from California! Were you just visiting when you were a teenager? Any favorite spots you visited?

  3. I’ve definitely seen a lot of photos of those lampposts before! We’re flying into LAX for a few days in May, though I think we’ll spend most of our time outside the actual city, maybe we’ll sneak in a little time to visit some of these cool places!
