Simple and Elegant Christmas Wrapping with Greenery

Winters in Minnesota spent at my grandparents farm were always the loveliest.

I would sit in the kitchen with my grandma, talking away, as she made cinnamon rolls and we drank coffee.

We would gather in their log addition curled up on a couch, a good book in hand, warmed by the fire dancing in the fireplace.

We would take walks in the woods and collect princess pine for Christmas wreaths. I loved being outside wandering through the trees, breathing in that fresh crisp air and collecting foliage.

Every season offered a new variety of treasures to forage. Winter was always my favorite. The crunch of snow under my boots and then coming back inside to get warm by the fire.

How to Use Simple Nature Elements with Your Christmas Wrapping

To create simple and elegant Christmas wrapping with greenery a few lovely elements are all you need. I went foraging in my backyard to collect a bunch of pretty greenery to garnish my Christmas presents!

It isn’t quite the same as those nostalgic walks through the woods yet it evokes those feelings and brightens the memories. I still love being able to work with nature and pull simple elements together to create beautiful things.

I love simple elegance. It doesn’t take a lot to achieve it and it looks absolutely lovely. Gather together wrapping paper, string and foraged greenery. I collect items and keep them on hand so that I have a fun variety to work with at all times.

Simple and Elegant Christmas Wrapping with Greenery

For this wrapping project I used a roll of brown craft paper and a roll of black wrapping paper. I found this double sided paper last year, black paper on one side and a Christmas design on the other side.

I use baker’s twine a lot. It’s another one of those handy craft supplies to keep on hand and the perfect string for this project. I used three different rolls; a nice thick rustic twine, a classic tan twine and a red and white twisted twine.

Gather all your boxes and wrap them with your paper. I love using a bunch of different sized boxes for variety. 

Once your presents are wrapped in paper tie them up with your string. I like to do something different with each present. Then comes my favorite part, adding the embellishments!

I’ve been repurposing eucalyptus, blue thistle and seed pods from a bouquet I made after visiting the LA Flower District recently. After I dried them they made a lovely centerpiece for the Fall on my table.

Now I will use them to top off my Christmas wrapping. I love finding ways to use greenery over and over again. When it comes to embellishments I love working dried plants and flowers in.

First I gather a selection of embellishments to work with. Copper glitter covered leaves from the dollar store, dried eucalyptus, blue thistle and seed pods, and branches and leaves I collected from trees in my yard. I even used a printed instagram photo. So fun!

To add your embellishments tuck different pieces into your string to complete your gorgeous Christmas wrapping! I love how each present is it’s own unique work of art. With so many style options from traditional Christmas colors, ribbons and bows, topping with ornaments and working with greenery the creative variety is limitless!
