I am in love with this beautiful Copper color. I’ve been wanting to try this project out with clear glass for a while. I chose clear glass plates specifically with pretty patterns. I love how the design on the plates really popped once painted. I also chose dishes for the base of the stands for their shapes and sizes.

Materials Needed: Three glass plates, three ice cream dishes or glasses with stems, Copper spray paint and E6000.

Step One: Wash all your dishes before spray painting them.

Step Two: Spray paint the backside of your plates. I love how beautifully my plates turned out. The spray paint highlights the design perfectly.

Step Three: Spray paint the outside of your stemmed dishes.

Step Four: Wait two hours for the paint to fully dry.

Step Five: Glue stemmed dish to the back of the plate with the E6000 following the instructions on the tube of glue. This is my favorite kind of glue to use for projects like this.

I made three stands, but decided to use them as single cake stands and stack when needed. This way I have three individual stands or I can stack two or three depending on the event!

    1. Thanks Ivanna. I love making cake stands! You can use them for so many things 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Falon! I LOVE them too! I almost glued them all together, but decided they would be multi functional if I kept them as three separate pieces.

  1. I am impressed! I was just thinking today how much I love the color copper. The designs on the plate are much more noticeable once the plates are painted. I may have to keep an eye out for some nice inexpensive glass plates and make one of these myself. I like how you stacked them, but I would keep them separate as well.

    1. Thank you so much Beth! I’ve had this idea for a while and am beyond happy with how it turned out. Spray painting the back of the plate is the trick.
