Incredibly Easy Vinyl Record Bowls

31 Days of DIY Projects. Project Two: Incredibly Easy Vinyl Record Bowls.

I started incorporating vinyl records into my decor this year. There’s just something that I really love about having retro and vintage items in my home. I’ve seen these vinyl record bowls before. Imagine my surprise when I figured out how incredibly easy they are to make!

Seriously, in a matter of minutes, you’ll be able to make your own!

This is a great way to upcycle old records you aren’t using anymore. If you don’t have any then a trip to the thrift store is in order! My local Goodwill sells them for a dollar each.

Materials: For this project, you’ll need to use an oven! You’ll also need a cookie sheet, oven-safe bowl or glass, and some vinyl records.

Step One: Decide on your vinyl records and how many bowls you’ll be making. I made a few! For a dollar each, why not?

Step Two: Preheat your oven to 225°F.

Step Three: Place your oven-safe bowl or glass on a cookie sheet and put it in the oven. Place your record on top of your oven-safe dish.

The record will become quite pliable within a matter of a few minutes. Be sure to keep a close eye on your record as it will melt pretty quickly.

Step Four: Remove your record from the oven. Be sure to use a mitt as it will be hot!

Step Five: Work quickly to bend in your desired folds as the record will cool and re-harden almost immediately.

Don’t like the shape of your bowl? No problem, just stick it back in the oven and reshape.

Enjoy making your own Incredibly Easy Vinyl Record Bowls!

  1. I have to admit these are pretty awesome looking and at the same time a little sacrilegious. When I was little, my mom taught me how to hold a record with the palm of my hands so I didn’t scratch it. I don’t know if I can sacrifice any of my old albums, but maybe I’ll pick some up at the thrift store.

    1. I know what you mean! Definitely wouldn’t recommend ruining any from your collection. That’s what the thrift store records are perfect for!

  2. Such a cute idea! We have a bunch of old records that are all scratched up, so this would be the perfect solution. Such a cool conversation piece too.

    1. Thank you so much Chrissa! Right?! Perfect for a retro throwback or Mad Men party 🙂
