A Heart Full Of Thanksgiving
With thanksgiving a few days away, I thought I’d share with you all my family traditions and what I am thankful for, especially this year.
There will always be ups and downs throughout life, and I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all had our fair share of them. Instead I try to focus on all the good in life.
While my lists could be a mile long, I narrowed it down to three things that I am very thankful for this year. With that being said, let’s start with my family thanksgiving traditions.
A Heart Full Of Thanksgiving
My Family Traditions:
Every year since before I was born, my family would celebrate with my dad’s side of the family because we all live just 10-15 minutes away from each other.
We always have the traditional thanksgiving meal with turkey, mash potatoes, etc. And while the food was cooking, my family always played board or card games. In the background the thanksgiving parade in New York or a football game would be on.
Growing up with mostly boy cousins, football was and still is a big deal.
The chatter of football stats would fill the air with excitement. As a kid, I had to bring toys to play with because sports bored me then. Which is funny, because now I love watching sports!
Once the food was done cooking, my mom and aunts would set the table.
We would then gather around the table and say what we are thankful for. Then we would hold each others hands and my grandpa would say a prayer.
After giving God praise of thanksgiving and grace. As we past each dish of food around, the house would fill with “oohhhs” and “ahhs” as we admired all the amazing food we were about to enjoy.
Conversations would begin by whoever you were sitting by or bursts of laughter after someone told a story.
After the main meal was over, everyone would spread out on the couches and floor. With our tummies full, some of us take a nap, while others catch up or play more games.
We call this our “break” before dessert was served. Our day is always filled with so many amazing memories. My family is truly the best! <3

My Heart Is Full Of Thanksgiving:
Family:
I absolutely love my family with all my heart. My family comes first over everything in my life. I am so thankful to have such an amazing family that shows me God’s love, constant support, love, guidance, and more. We have had many ups and downs in life, but we always stick together and push through with Christ at the center of our family and our lives.
Sisters in Christ:
I am so blessed to have amazing friends who I call sisters. From laughing until we cry or almost pee our pants (yes I said it haha!), to deep conversations about work or life, or trips to Target to vent about our rough day or spending our days off wearing comfy clothes and watching movies. I love you all! Again, I am so thankful to have so many sisters!
Happily Dwell:
I have always dreamed of being a blogger but I didn’t know what to do. I am so thankful for Naomi, who reached out to me, and asking me to join her.
We are on a mission to see you live a joy filled life! We believe in a happy heart and a happy home. Happily Dwell is a space to share this passion for joy filled living.
And lastly, the Happily Dwell community, I am so grateful that we have such an incredible group of supportive readers. I love every chance I get to talk with and get to know each and every one of you.
For that I am so thankful to have taken the leap of faith and joined Naomi!
I hope and pray you all have a blessed Thanksgiving! Enjoy your time with the ones you love whether that is family, friends, co-workers, etc. And know I am thankful for you!
Yours Truly,
Megan
