Step one:

How to make your shirt:

Glue pom poms onto shirt with tacky glue.

Put a brown paper bag inside the shirt so the glue doesn’t bleed through and stick to the other side.

I bought two bags of 300 assorted colors and sizes (I used the three smallest sizes). Vary your colors and sizes as you go. You’ll need a lot of pom poms for this costume.

Once your glue has dried, try your shirt on to see if you have any gaps you need to fill with pom poms.

I saved the very smallest sizes for last to fill in the gaps.

You will want to make this top at least a day or two before you plan to wear it to give the glue time to dry!

Step two:

How to make your purse for the night:

My favorite part of the whole Halloween Gumball Machine Costume? The purse!

Hot glue pom poms onto a clear purse or bag. For added fun I bought gum balls to carry in my purse and hand out!

Of course it doesn’t have to be a clear purse, but I love that you can see the gum balls inside of it.

You could also buy a gumball machine to handout gumballs.

Step three:

How to make your 25 cent dispenser:

I cut out two pieces of felt (measuring 4×5 inches) and a piece of cardstock to go in between.

I used my cutting mat, ruler and x-acto knife to cut out my felt and cardstock for nice straight edges.

Glue felt to both sides of cardstock with tacky glue. Sketch the dispenser design onto your felt first and then fill in with a black sharpie.

I glued two extra little strips of felt to the back and pinned my 25 cent sign to my skirt.

The 25 cent dispenser really makes the Halloween Gumball Machine Costume, doesn’t it?!

Step four:

How to make the earrings for your Gumball Machine Costume:

I had plenty of pom poms so creating a pair of earrings was a great way to add a little extra pop to this already adorable Halloween costume.

Hot glue the smallest size pom poms onto both sides of a pair of hoop earrings. I used a pair I already had on hand.

While the earrings aren’t necessary to the costume they are a very nice added touch.

Step five:

How to make your ring for your Gumball Machine Costume:

Hot glue a pom pom to your craft ring or old ring you don’t care about anymore.

In a pinch, you could use a piece of thick craft wire and wrap it around your finger to size.

The accessories:

I bought a high-waisted red skirt and threw on a black belt and a pair of black heels to complete the Gumball Machine Costume!

Originally I was going to stick my hair in a bun with pom poms but decided the earrings were enough of a finishing accent.
