Bring Nature Inside: How To Decorate With Inspiring Nature Décor
“A room should never allow the eye to settle in one place. It should smile at you and create fantasy.” – Juan Montoya
I have always incorporated nature into my décor for a long time. I think it’s because I am from the Midwest where winters are forever and I need to see greenery and flowers. I am also a huge gardener, not professional I might add. That being said, my garden has always inspired me as well in my decorating. Also with my photography, God is continually showing His amazing art work in nature and landscape. I hope this post inspires you! I’ll be sharing tips and ideas on how to style flowers, artwork and more.
First, there is something about bringing a taste of nature in your home. Filling your home with fresh flowers in summer is basically guaranteed to not only enhance your décor but also brighten your mood, especially on rainy summer days. A bouquet from the weekend farmers’ market is the perfect starting point for decking out your whole space. Or even from your own garden in either your front or back yard. Some ideas you could do: bouquet in a fun vase, dry the flowers out and then press them – which then you can frame them, you can bring in fresh picked herbs to create a relaxing atmosphere. Tip: Grouping flowers by type and color can look fresh and modern. Instead of buying multiple arrangements, break up one big bouquet and place a few fresh blooms in every room. And don’t overlook the greens!
Second, create a summer gallery wall. Freshen up a room by adding a new, colorful gallery wall. You can pick a theme or simply add art that speaks to you! I love to use botanical & insect art work, nature & landscape photography, or vintage platers with floral prints on them. You can use fun frames- either colorful ones or different sizes and textures. You can have so much fun with this! Find your art at thrift and antique stores for a cottagecore vibe. Tip: plan out your gallery wall ahead of time, before you start to hang the artwork. Another tip I use: I use Velcro command stripes instead of nails. That way I don’t damage my wall, this is a great tip if you are renting.
Lastly, add nature into your home by adding natural texture and accents into your home. Such as, wicker, different shapes of wood (branches, wood you found on the beach). It’s a simple way to inject nature into your home. With wicker, it’s easy to incorporate into your décor. Like baskets, wicker chair or styling hats, you can make a big impact without spending a lot of money. Tip: Now that wicker has made a big comeback, you can easily find it at thrift stores, flea markets, farmer’s markets, antique shops and garage sales! Other accents you can use to add nature and texture could be pots, succulents, cactus, antique figurines, hats and more. There are so many fun ways to bring nature into your home with little money and effort. It will change your atmosphere of the home and bring joy to the soul!
Enjoy!
