NOVEMBER 2024 Trends

Week of November 17

REEL: POV: Working on a Friday.

Audio: oooh_my_cat

This reel is perfect for an office or work setting. Getting out of the office at 5:00 o’clock on the dot is a pretty universal feeling.

Why it works: This concept is instantly relatable. Who doesn’t want to jam out at the end of the work week?!

How to create it: Film employees in a location. Then film the location with the employees gone. Do this in a few different locations throughout the workplace. The magic is in short clips of people in the setting and then them “disappearing.” Notice how in each clip something is still in motion: a paper falling to the floor, a chair spinning, a door closing.

REEL: Share the people behind your business

Audio: dailydoseof.rose

This reel is perfect for shining a spotlight on the people in your business. It’s a happy behind-the-scenes showcase of the people who make your business a success.

Why it works: This concept brings personality to your brand. It shows the vibe of your business and the people behind it. It’s that human element that helps your audience connect to you!

How to create it: Use b-reel “bloopers” of employees/clients in your business. This is a compilation of all the funny moments caught on film. The magic is in multiple short clips of people smiling and laughing.

REEL: Something no one wants to do.

Audio: Meghan Trainor – NO

This reel is perfect for a comedic moment. Perfect for a social media manager excited to film a new reel idea, a boss always adding new items to the menu, or adding another service to your business.

Why it works: This concept brings a little humor to doing new things or doing things no one really wants to do.

How to create it: This reel starts with the idea. “I have a new [idea] to try…” Followed by clips of everyone else turning the idea down with sticky notes that so NO.

REEL: Showing off a product!

Audio: original audio

This reel is perfect for showing off a product in a surprising and clever way.

Why it works: This concept brings a WOW moment to the viewer. It creates the curiosity of “how did they do that?” and gets the viewer watching on repeat to see the clever effect again.

How to create it: This reel requires a little extra editing work, but if you’re willing to do it the results will pay off! You’ll need two to three shots depending on if you are featuring one or two products. Start with your first image holding the product(s) out in front of you. Then take closeup shots holding the products. Using your phone’s easy sticker effect create cutouts of the closeup shots.

REEL: Stitched together videos – start with one and end with another

Audio: Million Dollar Baby

This reel starts with one clip (usually footage of something funny happening) and ends with your video that ties in with the original video.

Why it works: This concept uses surprise and humor to capture your viewer’s attention. Think of the first video as a visual hook. Then create your video to transition to.

How to create it: You’ll need the original footage, in this case the pole vaulting gone wrong, and you’ll need to film yourself sliding into frame. Edit the two videos together so that the moment he falls backwards and the moment you come sliding into frame sync together.

REEL: Squished effect video

Audio: Miles Smith – Nice to Meet You

This reel starts starts normally, but has a surprising end of you being picked up and squished!

Why it works: This concept uses surprise and humor to capture your viewer’s attention. Think of something that will correlate with you being squished, like “let’s squash those frustrations together.”

How to create it: Choose the portion of your video that you want to be squished in. Go to pika.art and use the “Squish it” effect to create your squished self for the end of your reel. Add this clip to the end of your video.
