DIY Vintage Candy Dish
31 Days of DIY Projects. Project Six: DIY Vintage Candy Dish.
I love beautiful vintage and antique glassware. In fact the name of my blog My Fair Olinda was inspired by my love for classics like My Fair Lady and all things vintage. Read more about how I chose my blog name on my About page! In many ways I think it’s a nostalgia that is tied to all my wonderful childhood memories in my Grandparents home. For years they had this beautiful blue carnival glass candy dish on their coffee table. Inspired by this lovely candy dish, today’s DIY takes a dollar store candy dish transforming it from plain to dazzling. All it took? Just a little spray paint of course!
Three cans of spray paint (I used pink, blue and copper), frosted glass finish spray and a clear glass candy dish.
Step One: Wash your candy dish before spray painting it.
Step Two: Spray paint the outside of the dish in layers.
Start with a dusting of copper, then pink, then blue. Emphasis on the dusting! Make sure you are lightly spray painting each layer.
By lightly dusting layer by layer you will create a lovely iridescent color on your dish.
Continue spraying on layers until the candy dish is fully covered.
Step Four: Spray a final coat of frosted glass spray on the dish.
Happy DIYing!
